Microdancing in Brussels: a dance event for small movements and big presence
23 May 2026, Brussels
What is microdancing?
Microdancing is a dance form based on very small, subtle movements and an intimate, nuanced connection between partners. Instead of big steps or flashy moves, it focuses on tiny gestures, breath-sized shifts, and minimal body communication. This allows dancers to truly listen—to the music and to each other—creating a quiet yet deeply expressive shared experience.
Who is this event for?
Microdancing is easy to pick up and with our 3 workshops, you will be good to go for the evening! Whether you’re completely new to dance or highly experienced in one or several styles, you’ll be able to find a partner and share a meaningful moment on the dance floor.
What will the event be like?
We’ll start with open-level workshops that introduce useful tools and techniques for microdancing. These sessions are also a playful way to build connection, trust, and a shared dance language among participants.
The potluck will nourish both body and spirit, giving us time to relax and get to know one another.
In the evening, there will be space to freely practice and explore microdancing, with music by DJs Pierre and Diana.
And on Sunday?
One day of dancing is never enough—and we agree. While the microdancing event itself is a one-day experience, there are plenty of opportunities to keep dancing in Brussels on Sunday. Check out the Programme.
Programme
Programme maybe subject to change.
Saturday
13:45 – Doors open
14:05 – Welcome circle
14:15 – 15:15 From frame to abrazo : tips on connection (by Benjamin)
What if connection wasn’t anything mystical? What if we could actually make it great?
From toes to fingertips, let’s have a closer look at how our joints work and influence our dancing. We’ll share some tools to get a better understanding of our body structure, in order to establish clear communication channels between partners – or better said, to create the most inviting embrace ever.
15:30 – 16:30 Dancing with breathing and precision — moving in fusion (by Diana)
We will work with breathing together as a foundation to create a safe and grounded connection, and explore the mechanics of close embrace through different pathways in the body — arms, back, legs. Through this, we will develop control and precision, learning how to soften into the connection while balancing quiet presence and personal expression.
16:45 – 17:45 Flow in every move: mastering micro-isolations (by Agnieszka)
This workshop explores body isolations, helping you feel and control each movement from within. We’ll look at how to bring these tiny details into micro-dancing and fit them naturally into your own dance style.
17:45 -18:45 Potluck and chats (bring food to share with the others & a bowl and cuttlery for yoursel!)
18:45 – 22:00 Practice time! Social dancing with DJs. Open to all!
