Workshops

Maria José, “From the Pulse: Connection through Movement”

We’ll explore, through blues, how the pulse of music becomes a shared language thanks to partner dance connection.

The pulse in blues is much more than a simple rhythm: it’s the fundamental heartbeat that sustains the music and, at the same time, the meeting point for dancers. This pulse acts as an invisible root that connects everyone, allowing each person to create through their own musicality while still sharing a common base.

To feel the pulse is to feel the heart of the music, the constant beat that invites us to move and converse. In the workshop, we’ll explore how to identify and follow this heartbeat, learning to listen to it both in the music and in our bodies, and then translate it into partner connection. It’s not only about leading or following, but about creating a conversation through movement.

Alva Luz, “Contact and Consent Lab”

In this workshop, Alva proposes a series of games to practice the language and skills of consent. Our shared exploration will bring us tools of self-knowledge and self-care that help us communicate through our bodies and physical contact.

Since 2019, she has been creating shared exploration spaces to train and deepen consent skills through the body, intimacy, sensations, touch, and play. This proposal is grounded in deep work with consent, diversity, presence, and connection.

Atenea, “Turns and Figures, Figures and Turns”

A workshop to dive deeper into the art of turning and the expressive possibilities of partner dancing.

We’ll learn to understand the dynamics of spins in conversational dance, exploring how to communicate them, receive them, and execute them with harmony, balance, and connection.

We’ll also look at classic figures derived from spins that enrich and beautify the dance language. The goal is to feel comfortable with this body language, expanding our ability to communicate and enjoy each partner on the floor.

Mike, “Zouk and Micro in Fusion”

We’ll add some more flexibility, deliciousness and mutual attention to our Fusion.

Techniques of Brazilian Zouk provide the dancers with additional levels of freedom and unusual ways of interaction. We will work on bending the axis that is commonly straight and learn several new elements.

Zouk also blends perfectly with Micro Fusion, which adds some delicious flavour to our regular dances. It brings the dance musicality to more detailed level and focuses the dancers on deeper attention to each other.

Marcin, “Massage Exchange, Inspired by Thai Massage”

This session opens a space of mutual care and connection, where through massage we can give and receive attention with presence. Inspired by the Thai massage tradition, we’ll work in pairs with simple, accessible, guided movements that invite stretching, relaxation, and releasing tension.

It’s also an invitation to pay attention to the body in all its dimensions. A cared-for, relaxed body is more open to movement, presence, and awareness.

Beyond the physical, this practice reminds us of the importance of caring for ourselves and allowing others to care for us, nourishing ourselves so we can fully give to dance, encounters, and life.

A session to rest, let go, and prepare the body to continue enjoying this wonderful weekend.

Sayil, “Connection Dynamics and Fusion Dance Workshop”

Sayil loves deep connection — the kind that allows us to dance with absolute honesty in our bodies.

Sharing with others is beautiful, but sharing from a place of listening and respecting how I am, how I perceive, and how I “embrace” the other is a true gift. We’ll enjoy these dynamics on Friday as the opening of our festival!

She’ll also be leading a fusion dance workshop during this amazing weekend!
