Open to new experiences? We’re flipping the script on traditional workshops and creating something different – an afternoon where fusion dance meets meaningful connection. We want to develop a cozy gathering where we’ll learn, laugh, and build real connections, an afternoon that’s part workshop and part social experience.

This time, we’re excited to welcome Diana from Lille as our special guest; people had a great time and plenty of laughs at her workshop at Brussels Fusion Exchange, and we’re looking forward to having her bring that same energy to our afternoon.

This event is for those who already speak the basic language of partner dancing (think lead and follow dynamics, basic frame and connection principles) and want to dive deeper into the fusion dance community.

We encourage both experienced dancers and those starting their journey with fusion dance to join the workshops. This is the space where we will get to know each other through dance and co-create a common dance language, which will lead to more meaningful and dynamic dances.

Connect & Create by Diana Deblise from Lille

In this workshop, we will blend centering exercises and collaborative activities to create a welcoming, explorative environment. Together, we’ll explore movement patterns, discover spatial dynamics, and connect with ourselves and others.

During this workshop we will:
– Begin with gentle individual movements and progress into full-body exploration, using playful imagery and sensory qualities to unlock creative expression and natural movement.
– Use imagery and metaphor to explore different movement pathways through space. Work with partners to discover new ways of moving, enhancing spatial awareness and imagination.
– Experiment with various heights and movement qualities—from elevated to floor-based patterns—to develop adaptability and spatial creativity.
– Develop awareness, build connection responsiveness, and timing through group reflection activities.
– Explore leadership and creativity as partners guide and interpret each other’s movements, discovering new possibilities through subtle variations.
– Work with a partner to express universal themes through movement, bringing simple stories to life through physical expression.|

Unlock Your Groove: Exploring Body Isolations by Agnieszka Pietruczuk from Brussels

In this workshop, we will explore the art of body isolations and hip movements in a fusion dance setting. Though commonly associated with jazz and Latin dances, isolations add depth to any partner dance style, offering greater control, fluidity, and connection.

By incorporating body isolations into our dance practice, we can develop a deeper understanding of our movements and enhance our expression and creativity. Isolations allow us to move specific parts of our bodies independently, improving our body awareness, coordination, and control. They not only add visual appeal to our dance but also enable us to interpret music more expressively by accentuating beats or phrases.

The workshop will cover different types of isolations, including those for the head, shoulders, torso, and hips. The first part of the workshop will focus on improving movement control and fluidity individually and through collaborative learning, where partners can support each other. In the second part of the workshop, we will concentrate on learning how to lead and follow using isolations in both open and closed positions. The session will also include exercises that encourage improvisation and creativity in movement while building confidence in our isolation techniques.

This workshop offers an opportunity to explore what our bodies can do and make isolations a natural part of our dancing, regardless of style.

We work with royalty-free music.

Dinner

Dinner will start at 18:30

The dinner will be an opportunity to get to know each other better, share your dance history, and exchange views on dancing.

Dinner will be served at Kamilou Arts-Loi restaurant and will be fully vegetarian. If you have any allergies or other dietary requirements, please communicate them during the registration, and we will ask the restaurant to prepare something special for you.

Your ticket includes dinner, but drinks are not covered. You’ll be responsible for ordering and paying for your own beverages during the meal.
