Capoeira Angola is the traditional, more ritualistic style of capoeira. Its games are full of symbolic movements, subtle strategy, and deep musical and philosophical expression.

In Capoeira Angola, movements tend to be close to the floor, with crouching, crawling, and sneaky attacks. There’s a strong emphasis on malícia—players often fake moves or set traps. Outsmarting your partner is more important than overpowering them.

The roda is smaller, creating an intimate space where each movement counts. The game is seen more as a conversation between players than a fight, guided by the rhythm of the berimbau and the voices of the roda. On the video above Finhinho plays with Junior and treinel Bertille at weekly roda in Brussels.

Finhinho is a capoeirista from Chile who’s been training capoeira since 2014. Over the years, he’s traveled all over Europe for Capoeira Angola festivals, learning from a bunch of mestres and contra-mestres along the way. He’s been sharing his passion by teaching young people in Brussels and nearby areas.

Retada, also known as Agnieszka, has been training Capoeira Angola with since 2014. She’s been part of many festivals across Europe, always eager to learn and connect through the art. Outside the roda, Retada brings her movement background into play—she’s a contemporary dance instructor, forrozeira and now also teaches fusion dance, blending styles and rhythms in her own unique way.

Capoeira Angola is a traditional Afro-Brazilian martial art that blends movement, music, and ritual. Unlike the faster and more competitive style of Capoeira Regional, Capoeira Angola emphasizes slow, deliberate movements and acrobatic elements, close-to-the-ground play, and rich cultural traditions. Its focus on rhythm, improvisation, and the fluid interaction between players creates a shared language of movement that highlights connection between participants and creativity.AcroYoga is a playful and dynamic practice that combines elements of acrobatics, yoga, and therapeutic movement. It emphasizes balance, trust, and connection between partners, often involving lifts, inversions, and counterbalances. The practice nurtures physical strength and flexibility while encouraging a sense of shared exploration and communication between participants, making it a highly social and interactive experience.
